Coates Offshore Mo Bro’s to shave off Movember mustaches for charity
As men across the country near the end of their Movember moustache stint and gear up for the big shave off on 1st December, local Aberdeen company Coates Offshore are marking the event in true Aussie style. The Coates Offshore Mo Bro’s have raised over £2,000 so far for The Prostate Cancer Charity (TPCC) UK and will host a BBQ shave off at their Aberdeen base in Dyce between 12 noon and 2pm on Wednesday 1st December.
The global rental specialist, which is owned by Australian parent Coates Hire, are planning the BBQ shave off in support of the global Movember movement which originated in Australia.
“Movember was actually introduced over a few beers in Australia back in 2003,” commented Kieran White, Executive Director. The guys behind the Mo realised the potential for generating conversations about men’s health and it’s grown rapidly since then. At Coates we heavily promote health and wellbeing throughout our organisation and were keen to support the growing Movember movement alongside our Australian colleagues.”
November has evolved and focused on raising awareness and funds for the number one cancer affecting men – prostate cancer. Growing year on year it has, expanded into the UK, US, Canada, New Zealand, Ireland, Spain, South Africa, The Netherlands and Finland.
In 2009, global participation of Mo Bros and Mo Sistas climbed to 255,755, with over one million donors raising £26 Million (GBP equivalent) for Movember’s global beneficiary partners.
