Anadarko enhances security in Sahara

BY ALISON SIDER

HOUSTON -- Anadarko Petroleum has increased security at its operations in Algeria following last month's deadly attack on a natural gas field there by militants, CEO Al Walker told investors during a conference call, adding that the company has no plans to leave its operations in the country.

"We remain committed to Algeria, our partnership with Sonatrach and our operations there" Mr. Walker said. "As I am sure you can expect, we have taken appropriate action with Sonatrach and the Algerian government to enhance security for our people and facilities."
