Algeria confident of security at oil, gas fields

PARIS -- Algeria is confident in its security situation following January's attack by Islamic militants on its In Amenas gas field, said Ali Hached, adviser to Algeria's Minister of Energy, on the sidelines of a conference. "People are coming back to Algeria," he said, adding that the country has intensified security measures for its oil and gas fields.
We are very confident; we faced ten years of a very difficult situation, we overcame all these difficulties no problem. Our partners understand very well, Mr. Hached said. Mr. Hached also said that the country was working towards fully restoring production at the In Amenas gas field. "The second facility will restart very soon and the third by the end of the year," he said.
Statoil said in February that production from the plant's train 1 had restarted but declined to give a timeline on the restoration of the remaining two production trains.
